Mr. Phil Skoglund
Elementary Principal
Mr. Skoglund earned his BS from Wheaton College (’69) and MS from UWM (’77). He has taught middle, high school and undergraduate mathematics, as well as served as a curriculum and instruction administrator for nearly twenty years. He is the co-author of thirty-nine manuals known as the Daily Reinforcer Curriculum for Review & Maintenance (Math, Reading, Science, Social Studies, Writing). This is Mr. Skoglund's fifth year at HCS.

During the elementary school years we provide students with the foundational building blocks of learning. Through Literature (Foundations & Frameworks Reading) - with a special emphasis on phonemic awareness and phonics - Language Arts (Shurley Grammar), and Houghton Mifflin Math, children receive quality instructional time in the basics of education. Students also receive instruction in Science, Social Studies, Bible, Art, Music, PE, Band, Strings and Computers. Our resource room offers programs for those who need remedial assistance. We give children the confidence to believe they can be successful in school, as well as in life.
