COVID-19 Update

Quarantine Policy Update Effective 9/22/21

Policies that create more problems than they solve need to be reviewed and adjusted.  When we met over the summer to discuss 2021-22 COVID-19 policies, our goal was to balance two things: keeping students safe while giving them the best academic, social, emotional, and spiritual training possible.
Early last week, as quarantines increased, we began to question the effectiveness of these policies.  We realized our quarantines were causing many practical problems without doing much to diminish the number of students testing positive.  The process was detracting from the educational outcomes we were seeking.

Therefore, we are choosing to follow the lead of most of the public schools around us in the way we conduct contact tracing, quarantines, and communication with parents.

COVID-19 Policy Regarding Quarantines
:
We will continue to perform contact tracing.
  • We will communicate with families of students who are considered close contacts (in school settings) of individuals who test positive for COVID-19.
  • Quarantining will continue to be recommended and strongly encouraged, but not required for close contacts of someone who has COVID-19.  The school will not monitor quarantines.
  • Those testing positive for COVID-19 or think/know they had/have COVID-19 are required to isolate per Waukesha County Health Department guidelines.
  • Students who show COVID-19 symptoms must isolate at home and not return until 24 hours after last symptoms are gone.
  • If a school family has someone living at their house who has tested positive for COVID-19 and that person is unable to be in isolation, then their students must remain at home.  Students who test positive must abide by the quarantine restrictions determined by the Waukesha County Health Department.  Siblings of those who test positive may return when the one who tested positive is clear to return, provided none of them have had COVID-19 symptoms for at least 24 hours.

This change in policy will become effective on Wednesday, September 22, 2021.

Please be aware we will continue to monitor the effectiveness of our policies, while at the same time listen to the guidelines offered to us by the Waukesha County Health Department and the Center for Disease Control.  We will change policies as needed.

Thank you for your prayers as we seek God’s help and wisdom concerning these matters.
