Is God Enough?
My kids grew up watching Veggie Tales.  In those early days of computer animation, we were amazed to see a company with Christian values grow so quickly.  And then the bubble popped!
Me, Myself, and Bob is the story of the rise and fall of Big Idea Entertainment told by Phil Vischer, the company’s founder and voice of Bob the Tomato.  It’s a tale of great dreams and broken hearts.  The story begs the question: why does God let good dreams die?
In the 1980s, Vischer found himself a Bible College dropout providentially exposed to cutting edge animation technology.  He began dreaming of building a media company that was as compelling and imaginative as Disney, yet with a heart for God.
By the mid-1990s, Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber were rising stars.  Videos were flying off the shelves and a struggling startup began to grow exponentially.  However, in less than 10 years, Big Idea’s budget outgrew its revenue, and the company slid toward bankruptcy.
Vischer did everything he could think of to revive Veggie Tales, but it seemed an impossible task.  After a company prayer meeting asking God to change things, a godly lady approached him and said, “I don’t think God wants to save Big Idea.  I think God wants you.”
When the final remnants of the company were sold off, Vischer was left to ponder why things didn’t turn out.  Was Big Idea more his dream than it was God’s?  Did his dream take God’s place?  Phil sadly said goodbye to Bob and Larry, but he eventually realized this was a gracious gift.
If God is killing your dream, let it die.  Look to Him, not the dream.  Trust Him and you will find He has a life for you beyond your dreams!
