Intermediate School at Heritage

A purposeful bridge between elementary and middle school where students grow in independence, responsibility, academic confidence, and Christ-centered character.

A Bridge for Growing Learners

The intermediate years are an important season of transition. Students are ready for greater responsibility, deeper learning, and increased independence while still benefiting from strong teacher guidance, structure, and care.

At Heritage Christian Schools, intermediate students are supported as they strengthen academic habits, develop personal responsibility, grow in confidence, and learn to apply biblical truth to their relationships, decisions, and daily work.

Intermediate Learning Priorities

Growing Independence

Students learn to manage assignments, organize materials, follow routines, and take greater ownership of their learning.

Academic Confidence

Students build stronger reading, writing, math, study, reasoning, and communication skills in preparation for middle school.

Christ-Centered Character

Students are encouraged to grow in humility, responsibility, kindness, perseverance, wisdom, and service to others.

Intermediate Program

Grades 5–6

Intermediate School serves as a bridge between the elementary classroom experience and the increased expectations of middle school.

Developmentally Appropriate Structure

Students receive the guidance and consistency they need while gradually learning to navigate more responsibility, stronger academic expectations, and expanded school experiences.

Prepared for Middle School

The program helps students grow in organization, stamina, study habits, classroom participation, respectful communication, and readiness for the next stage of learning.

Academic & Formation Experiences

Bible

Students continue to grow in biblical understanding, Scripture application, prayer, worship, and Christian community.

Literacy

Reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, discussion, and communication skills are strengthened.

Mathematics

Students deepen number sense, problem-solving, mathematical reasoning, and confidence with increasingly complex concepts.

Science & Social Studies

Students explore God’s world, history, geography, citizenship, inquiry, and hands-on learning experiences.

Specials & Enrichment

Students participate in additional learning opportunities such as art, music, physical education, technology, library, and other enrichment experiences.

Leadership & Responsibility

Students are encouraged to serve, lead appropriately, contribute positively, and practice responsibility in the school community.

Partnering with Families

Heritage values a strong partnership between school and home. During the intermediate years, this partnership is especially important as students begin taking more ownership while still needing consistent encouragement, accountability, and guidance.

Teachers work with families to support academic growth, character development, organization, perseverance, and confidence.
